Take-Two reconfirms November 19, 2026 — and says it is locked in

After years of delays, the publisher states publicly that the date holds. Preload opens on November 12, and two editions ship: Standard and Ultimate.

The most important fact about GTA 6 right now is also the simplest: the game releases on November 19, 2026, and Take-Two has repeated that commitment after the preorder campaign opened. The company describes the start of preorders as exceptional, which is the kind of language publishers use when they want to signal that nothing is moving again. Preloading begins on November 12, a week before launch. Two editions are offered — Standard and Ultimate — and the physical release contains a download code rather than a disc.

Two details in that package deserve separate attention. The physical edition shipping as a download code rather than a disc means the game's presence in shops is symbolic: there is no disc to install from, and no second-hand market in the usual sense. The price of $79.99, together with the Standard and Ultimate split, also sets expectations for what the basic purchase looks like.

In roleplay

For roleplay communities the release date is the deadline that matters: rules, applications, staffing and a website all have to exist before November 19 to catch the launch audience. The same applies to preparing a character, because the first weeks will be crowded with players who never read a rule. Note the limit as well, since launch is console-only and the roleplay scene as it exists today runs on a PC client.
